About the bells continued
The tower contains six bells, details of which can be found in the table. There have been bells in the church since at least the early sixteenth century. One of the earliest recorded references can be seen in the will of Thomas Cocks (1532) who bequeathed 6d "to the repairs of the bellys". Of the present set of bells, the oldest was cast in 1623. Two new bells were added in 1892; the tenor was also recast at this time. The three oldest bells have the following inscriptions: "Peter Lewson & William Payne CW 1710" on the third, "Let your hope be in the Lord EK 1623" on the fourth and "Feare God Honour the King 1665" on the fifth.
