Music
Music plays a great part in the life and worship at St Matthew's. The church houses a two manual pipe organ built by Binns of Leeds. It was cleaned and tonally restored in 1979 by Foster-Waite organ builders and restorers.
It is in regular use in services and a number of competent organists and congregations over the years have enjoyed its magnificent sound. The current organist David Evans B.Mus has been responsible for the music since 1982. Together with an accomplished pianist they share the duties of accompanying the services.
David also leads a church orchestra which plays on the first and fourth Sunday mornings and at festival times.
